In all of my feelingsThis was amazing! I didn’t have a clue what to expect going in but knew I’d enjoy it。 The writing is well paced with just enough romance and add in the family dynamic, equaling perfection。 Once a Carter brother makes up his mind the rest is history。 The dedication and sacrifice throughout the entire story is beautiful。 You know a book is good when it’s a bittersweet rush to get to the ending。 I left each book undecided whose story I wanted next。 Five Star series in the works In all of my feelingsThis was amazing! OH MAN。 I really wanted to like this one and I tried hard。 It pains me to say this but this did not work for me。 I think it was a good attempt and the premise of a homicide detective and a psychologist is interesting。 The 2。5 stars are mainly for Levi because I think for the most part, I liked him and found him charming。 Also, I love Grayson who made many appearances in this book。I found it hard to like Dahlia, and mostly because I’m actually in the same professional field as her。 So, this was OH MAN。 I really wanted to like this one and I tried hard。 It pains me to say this but this did not work for me。 I think it was a good attempt and the premise of a homicide detective and a psychologist is interesting。 The 2。5 stars are mainly for Levi because I think for the most part, I liked him and found him charming。 Also, I love Grayson who made many appearances in this book。I found it hard to like Dahlia, and mostly because I’m actually in the same professional field as her。 So, this was really tricky for me because I found myself analysing her decisions a lot and I tend to be quite sensitive with these things because it’s my profession! I’m usually ok with some forbidden romance, but maybe this hits too close to home for me so I was not for the forbidden-ness in this story。 I think it would have been a lot better if the whole tension/conflict between them doesn’t hinge on her professional ethics。 To be honest, the whole thing could have been avoided if she had just made disclosures right from the beginning。 There is no way she could be Levi’s therapist in any way。 Therapists should not and cannot be their clients’ friend as well。 So, for her to keep trying to emphasize that they should remain friends does not sit well with me too。 She repeatedly tried to draw boundaries but failed super quickly, and it got repetitive after awhile。 This made it hard for me to respect her, thus making it difficult for me to really like her as a character。 I also can’t help but feel that she did a huge disservice to Levi by handling things the way she did。 It’s precisely why there are ethical boundaries to be observed in this profession。 She could have made disclosures and then made sure Levi has access to another therapist, and this would have been the responsible and mature thing to do。 She repeatedly said that she could not lose this job and does not want to affect her other clients, but yet she did not take active steps to prevent that from happening? That ended up making her come across immature and irresponsible。 I think for the story’s sake, there could still be tension between them without this “forbidden” element, so why use the breach of professional ethics as a point of tension? She could be of good support to Levi without risking being unprofessional。 Isabella had even pointed out the correct thing that she should and could do, but she still did not do it, saying that it would affect how she looks before the Chief and hoping that she can prove herself。 Argh, I’m sorry but as a therapist, that was painful for me to read 😭 If she wants to be recognized as professional and reliable, she should totally have referred Levi out instead of playing with fire with professional boundary issues。 Also, if she really cares for Levi’s well-being, she should consider that what she’s doing is not helpful to him at his work。 I believe there would have been some research done into the work of a psychologist or something like that, but it feels like it was possibly a surface one。 I wish it was handled differently 😕 Also, being clinically supervised is a crucial part in the job of a therapist。 In reality, I think it shouldn’t have been the Chief’s job to determine whether to fire her or what to do about her breach, because he knows nothing about the job of a therapist。 I know I’m probably going too much into theoretical and technical stuff, but elements like that made me feel the story wasn’t realistic。 And, also, I feel disappointed in how my profession was represented here, so yup ☹ Also, one last thing on this part, Dahlia should totally be going for her own therapy, as she clearly needs some support or help with coping or processing as well。 It’s the responsible and ethical thing to do as therapists as this helps us to be more effective and objective in our work。 I will never stop advocating for this, therapy for therapists! That is self-care, not just doing relaxing stuff and all that。 But there was no mention of this at all, so I was disappointed in this。 I think on the professional aspect of this story, the only saving grace was that she did acknowledge and own up to the fact that she did cross boundaries and that there has been violation。 So, there’s that。 As for Levi and the symptoms that he was showing, I felt like there’s a lack of closure。 Yeah, it was mentioned that he would have to see another therapist externally but what happened after that? I would prefer that topics of trauma or mental health related issues not be glossed over if they were to be showcased in a book。 In this case, it felt a little like his symptoms was a plot point to push the story forward and for the couple to resolve the tension and come together。 I don’t enjoy it being handled like that。 PTSD or traumatic stress related symptoms shouldn’t be taken lightly。I wish there was abit more “meat” on the feelings they have towards each other as well。 I appreciate how much Levi loves her but I wish I know a little more why。 I guess I hope for abit more character depth and development。 And I’m not sure whether it’s something I missed, or forgot, but I can’t seem to recall what’s really the reason she ran away five years ago? It felt abit vague and I feel like there’s some things missing in the story。I like Annah’s writing and the way she describes some of the scenes。 I also appreciate her kind of humour and side characters like Grayson。 Maverick intrigues me as well。 I think this book would have worked much better for me if Dahlia wasn’t a therapist, bringing with it the issues I mentioned 😔I do look forward to Grayson and Maverick’s story and will continue to catch up with this series! 。。。more

I was discussing rom-coms with my book club the other night and mentioned that I finally figured out what makes a romantic story work for me。 You’re gonna love this reason, it’s utterly sexy:PLAUSIBILITY。Look, I get it。 At some level, romances in books are predicated on fantasy (unlikely people falling in love) and tropes (“I’d cross the ocean just to kiss you”), so exaggerated scenarios are not out of place。 I’m certainly not asking a genre to behave unnaturally! And some of these elements–like witty banter as it only seems to be found in books!–are stupendous。Which brings me to Annah Conwell。 I have thoroughly enjoyed my reading of “But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor” and now “But He’s My One Regret” (released just yesterday and available on KU)– four stars to both! What works so *plausibly* in both of these Carter brother books is the sweet gestures, the book love, and the supporting cast around the two lovebirds。 I mean, sweet, self-sacrificing men with melt-you-to-a-puddle good looks and funny leading ladies who love books, with a side of overcoming trauma and finding home with a new family? “But He’s My One Regret” is the second book in the “But He’s A Carter Brother” series from Annah Conwell, it can be read as a stand alone。Absolutely loved the chemistry between Levi & Dahlia and their shared back story。 It gave them a second-chance but also friends to lovers vibe when she showed up as the new psychiatrist at his police department。Some of their moments are so swoony you’ll want to read them over and over! If you want to read a romance book with men who know how to woo a woman, read a book from Annah。 📖 Thank you to the author for the advanced copy of this book, all opinions are my own。 。。。more

Oh I adored this one🤎 Levi is literally 🫠 he and Dahlia met and had a vacation romance five years ago, but Levi fell hard and never got over her。 She was it for him🤎loved how they reconnected and he was so steady in his pursuit of her。 And when she conquered her fear?! Sigh🥰

Reader’s Notes:– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone– this is told from Dahlia & Levi’s points of view– both Dahlia & Levi deal with grief over lost loved ones (past events; Dahlia – her parents who died in a boating accident; Levi – his mom who died from cancer)– Dahlia is the precinct’s in house therapist– Levi is a homicide detective & some of his cases are mentioned (they are not a main part of the story, only to better showcase Levi’s work-life & how it affects him)– Reader’s Notes:– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone– this is told from Dahlia & Levi’s points of view– both Dahlia & Levi deal with grief over lost loved ones (past events; Dahlia – her parents who died in a boating accident; Levi – his mom who died from cancer)– Dahlia is the precinct’s in house therapist– Levi is a homicide detective & some of his cases are mentioned (they are not a main part of the story, only to better showcase Levi’s work-life & how it affects him)– Levi is shot in the arm (off page)– Levi deals with PTSD & the affects of having been shot (nightmares, sleeplessness, trying to combat the drowsy effects of injury medication in order to keep working)Review:I loved so so much about this book! I adored getting flashbacks to when they first met and got to know each other for about a week throughout the story。 I loved that both Levi & Dahlia were so raw and realistic in all aspects of their thoughts & life narrations。 I loved that Annah Conwell did this and didn’t shy away from any of it because it made both characters more relatable! I loved that Levi was attentive to Dahlia and the fact that she had reservations/fears that were keeping her from jumping back into a relationship with him。 I loved that he worked with the parameters she set so that she’d have the space to think while he tried to woo her in a way that she’d be less likely to outright reject。 I loved that Dahlia was relentless in her hope that others in the precinct would see the value in what she had to offer, not only because it would help her to care for her sister, but also because she wanted to help her coworkers in the best way she could。 I also loved getting so much more of the Carter siblings in this book and that they opened their arms wide to include Dahlia & Jasmine! I’m so excited to see how the remaining siblings’ stories play out with the set up this book left us on!Summary:Dahlia is excited to start her new job in the local police station as their in house therapist。 But things are not looking as promising as she hoped。 One problem is that the chief of police does not seem to be thrilled to have her there, nor does he seem to think that her job is essential to his officers。 And while this does seem like a threat to her keeping her job, Dahlia is more worried about the man she recognized when she came in to work that first day。 Levi is now a detective in the same precinct and was someone that Dahlia met when she was a different person, but had stuck with her in the five years they’ve been apart。 She can’t allow herself to fall for Levi again, not when it could mean an immediate dismissal from the position she hopes to use for good。 But Levi just might prove to be much more tempting than Dahlia can handle…Levi is shocked when the woman he hasn’t been able to forget walks right into the precinct that he works at。 Five years ago, they had an intense connection but Dahlia left before they could exchange last names。 Now that she’s here, Levi feels like fate has brought them together once again。 But Dahlia doesn’t seem to feel the same。 In fact, she seems to believe that everything, from their work situation to their time apart, says they shouldn’t be together。 That it’s impossible。 But Levi fights the seemingly impossible daily and thinks that they can make things work。 He just needs to convince Dahlia that they are worth fighting for… 。。。more

Prepare to swoon I started reading this the moment it was available and it did not disappoint。 Levi and Dahlia were great leads。 The story dealt with some harder topics (grief, mental health, homicide) but it was the right story for these characters and the topics were handled well。Well paced, great secondary characters, strong focus on personal battles rather than external issues, and plenty of swoon。 The Carter family is just amazing, and I can’t wait for the next one。

Levi and Dahlia met five years ago when they were on vacation, and fell in love quickly, for Levi it was love at first sight, but Dahlia got scared of her feelings and left, leaving behind only a note。 Both of them spend this time apart regretting how things ended and hoping for a second chance。 And when they finally had it, Dahlia's new job got in the way, because as the precinct's new therapist she couldn't have a relationship with a detective, but this doesn't stop Levi from trying to get her Levi and Dahlia met five years ago when they were on vacation, and fell in love quickly, for Levi it was love at first sight, but Dahlia got scared of her feelings and left, leaving behind only a note。 Both of them spend this time apart regretting how things ended and hoping for a second chance。 And when they finally had it, Dahlia's new job got in the way, because as the precinct's new therapist she couldn't have a relationship with a detective, but this doesn't stop Levi from trying to get her back, and boy does he try to make everything to get her to break her rules for him, constantly saying the sweetest things and doing small/big things to show her he cares and that he wants her in her life no matter if it's as friends or more, he just needs her close, because for him she's his safe place。Levi is such an amazing character, always putting others first, and being the sweetest to Dahlia and Jasmine。 The entire Carter family is amazing as they welcome Dahlia and Jasmine to their family/friends circle, and again is amazing to see these family interacting (specially on group chats), and Grayson being his extra self (can't wait for his and Sloane's book!!)。 Dahlia is an incredible character too, she is so funny, and it's great to see how strong she is, and how she doesn't let the Chief intimidate her。 Something else that I really liked was seeing how Levi became to Dahlia what she was for him when they first met, he helped her find herself again, because she was so lost in her grief, she couldn't even make friends or have new relationships because of her fear of losing loved ones, and he tried to show her how life could be good again。This book was another slow burn but every interaction of this two was worth it, again Levi is the sweetest and says all the right things to make Dahlia rethink her rules, since Annah writes the cutest romcoms, I was not expecting what happened to Levi, but everything turned out great, and I was so into the book that I didn't even notice it was almost ending :(。 Oh there was no third act break up, but that doesn't mean there weren't all kids of feelings during the book hahah one moment I was laughing (anytime Grayson was involved hahah) and the other I was swooning (like that amazing epilogue, it was sooooo cuteeee, I loved it so much!!), and the next I was almost crying (Dahlia's birthday), Annah is an amazing author and you should definitely read all of her books。Read this if you like:- Forbidden love- Found family- Sibling banter- Flirty MMC- Bookish FMC- Second chance- He falls first- Slow burnI received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review。 。。。more

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review。 This is book 2 in the But He's a Carter Brother Series and can be read as a standalone。 However, if you want to read more about the Carter siblings, then read One Last Play and book 1 as well。 The book's blurb gives you an idea of what to expect, though do be aware that the book deals with loss of parents, grief, life of a homicide detective - including investigations- and minor (off page) mentions of violence, and PTSD。 Bu I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review。 This is book 2 in the But He's a Carter Brother Series and can be read as a standalone。 However, if you want to read more about the Carter siblings, then read One Last Play and book 1 as well。 The book's blurb gives you an idea of what to expect, though do be aware that the book deals with loss of parents, grief, life of a homicide detective - including investigations- and minor (off page) mentions of violence, and PTSD。 But He's My One Regret is told through Dahlia and Levi's pov and is a beautiful story about allowing love in and healing。As a guardian to Jasmine, her teenage sister, Dahlia approaches life in a more cautious way than she did before。 Aside from Jasmine, Isabella, her best friend, is the only other person who Dahlia has let in。 When she's unexpectedly reunited with Levi, the man she fell in love with while on vacation before her life changed, she finds it difficult to not let him affect her。 With her job in possible jeopardy, she has to ask herself if loving Levi is something she can do。 While circumstances may have shaped Dahlia, she still carried some of that fire that she had when her and Levi first met。 She may be scared but she can be bold when she really needs to be。 She really cared about helping others as much as she could so it was nice to see her let down her walls and let herself be embraced by love。As a homicide detective, Levi likes solving cases and getting justice on behalf of the victims but he can't deny that it's a lonely life。 HIs long and unpredictable hours have caused him to miss out on family gatherings or made him force himself to attend when he's tired。 He wants someone he can rely on but doesn't have hope that any woman would want to put up with his lifestyle until he's reunited with Dahlia, the woman he fell in love with and couldn't forget about。 Even though Dahlia is the therapist to the department, Levi is determined not to let her go this time around。 While Levi was steady in his pursuit, he was confident because she returned his feelings。 He wanted to prove to her that he was interested in a lasting future with her。 He was smooth and protective yet vulnerable too。 With Dahlia's influence, he was able to open up about some of his feelings he had been keeping bottled up。Although they spent one week five years ago, the connection that they formed was a strong one that neither could forget。 Getting a second chance was something they both dreamed of but their jobs made their romance off limits。 It created a tiny bit of angst as Dahlia tried to keep things professional and it was a slow burn。 But, readers will not be disappointed by the build up。 Their chemistry and tension will make the wait worth it。 Their romance is a clean one consisting of descriptive kissing and no foul language。 Although some heavy topics are explored, the tone of the story stays cozy and doesn't feel overwhelming。 Aside from the romance, I loved the relationships Dahlia had with Jasmine and Isabella。 Of course I loved the Carter siblings and how they adopted Dahlia and Jasmine as one of their own。 This was a wonderful addition to the Carter Brothers Series and I cannot wait to read the next book。 。。。more

Dahlia and Levi were adorable, I loved the side interactions with family, and it was a nice look into the inner workings of police officers/detectives’ mental health。 Jas and Grayson made lovely side characters and I liked the references to her other books especially One Last Play。 Dahlia the bookworm was a very relatable character of course! Thank you to the author for my ARC; all opinions are mine。

This book was a sweet second chance, but also insta-love romance。 Watching Levi and Dahlia work their demanding, stressful jobs, and seeing how they handled their own trauma through it was interesting。 And tattoos??? Well, I'm a sucker for a great tattoo story, and this book has that。 Levi was a little too sweet for my taste, but that's why God made us all different。 Grayson's story is up next, and oh my goodness, I need that one STAT!~I was given a complimentary copy of this book。 No positive r This book was a sweet second chance, but also insta-love romance。 Watching Levi and Dahlia work their demanding, stressful jobs, and seeing how they handled their own trauma through it was interesting。 And tattoos??? ARC Review: I have absolutely no idea how to start talking about this book。 I am obsessed with it。 The characters are some of my favorite characters in the world, the whole Carter family is incredible。 I wish I could be friends with them! This book was just perfection。 Pure perfection。 The romance was beautifully written and perfect。 The struggles in this book felt real and relatable but not hopeless。 The family dynamic these characters have with their families warms my heart so much。 I giggled ARC Review: I have absolutely no idea how to start talking about this book。 I am obsessed with it。 The characters are some of my favorite characters in the world, the whole Carter family is incredible。 I wish I could be friends with them! I cannot recommend this book enough! Something else that I found so fun about this book were the little Taylor Swift references:) sometimes it was a song lyric or title, intentional or not, it was still so fun! Truly, truly love this series with my whole heart! Annah is definitely my newest auto buy author! I highly, highly recommend! ☕️❣️🥧📂💐-second chance -he would do anything for her -she would do anything for him-police detective -psychologist-dual perspective -hilarious family dynamic -timeless (Taylor’s version) coded A huge thank you to the author for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review!❣️📖(Content disclosure: Mentions of grief, PTSD, loss of parents, homicide investigations, and all the dangers that come with being a homicide detective) 。。。more
